Current research interests of the Group
- Our main research interest is in the
determination of molecular structure and understanding of the structural
variations of broad classes of inorganic and organic compounds. These
chemicals often have important properties, such as the transport
properties of metal halides in halogen metallurgy or the high energy
content of nitro-derivatives of benzene. Our main technique of structure
determination is gas-phase electron diffraction, often augmented with
mass spectrometry, vibrational spectroscopy, and, increasingly, quantum
chemical calculations. Aiming at the highest possible accuracies, on the
one hand, and applying even qualitative models for predicting trends in
structure variations, on the other, our activities encompass wide ranges
of structural chemistry. Our work is carried out in very broad
international cooperation with many scientists from all over the world.
